Tea & Sympathy (a.k.a. Lazy Day)

In between the gorgeous and warm sunny days, there are still these cloudy days when the sun doesn’t quite know whether to come out behind the clouds or not...

On these kind of days I like to stay at home, read and put on something casual but warm.

Susanna Kaysen’s autobiographical novel “Girl, Interrupted” has been one of my long-lasting reading projects which I’m determined to finish in the near future – since there has been many cloudy days, I’m sure I’m going to finish it soon... There’s not many pages left. I tend to read many books at the same time and thus, some of them are left aside while I’m reading another. Unfortunately, this book has been left behind and I’m already planning to order more books. What is wrong with me?

So, today I decided to change that and took the book in my hands and continued reading it. It is amazing how books can take you to another universe and forget about the present – I love that! My cats always come to interrupt my reading and demanding to be given attention right at that very moment when they see I'm taking any book in my hands. It’s like they know I’m trying to take the time to myself by reading and they are trying to be a part of it. Beyond cute and annoyingly adorable.

This was my casual “I-wear-this-only-at-home” outfit. It’s also surprisingly warm, so the cold wind doesn’t give me chills...

I found the necklace from an internet flea market. I love all things cameo (necklaces, brooches, etc.) whether they are real or not... I haven’t been able to use this that much, because I prefer silver over gold or bronze, but this matched well with the zippers of the dress and I like how elaborate it is comparing to a very simple dress.

What I also like to do on cloudy days is to watch movies – I mean, of course, what else!? I haven’t yet decided which movie I’m going to watch, but I’m sure it will be resolved during the evening.

Now, this is what I do on cloudy days but now I’m interested in what do you do on days like these..?

Fifty Shades of Red

The winter has felt like forever, especially those days between a beautiful white coat of snow and those slushy days when the snow isn’t yet gone... I can’t wait for those actually warm days when you can put on something lighter clothing.

But now, at least the snow has melted and I can’t wait for the summer! I have been using pants (yes, pants) almost through the whole winter but now I have started to use skirts again. Oh, how I have been waiting for that.

Also, I have been able to put on my high heels for the first time since winter! I have been using high heels every day about two weeks now and I can’t even describe the feeling... No more combat boots!

Today's outfit consisted a pencil skirt with a silver zipper and a translucent top which comes down like air.

Here’s some more photos from today:

I haven’t been using this necklace for a while but I think it goes well with all the other silver details – and I like the text.

I thought that my “basic” dark makeup would go well with the dark outfit and black nails.

I have been enjoying my red hair more than I can put into words. I love how sunlight makes my hair shine!

Tomorrow it’s Friday and the weekend is finally here. I hope you enjoy the springtime and you have had a great week!

“The year was 1917...”

... when Finland became Independent. It must be a marvelous year, even I was born 75 years later!

Yesterday I went to listen to a men’s choir “Mieskuoro Laulajat” at Tampere-talo to "Patriotic Festivities", which is a day before Independence Day. It has become a huge part of my celebration of Finland’s Independence Day!

I got myself ready early and I was not in a hurry, which I usually am... Ha!

We had plenty of time to have a glass of sparkling wine with my godmother before the concert started...

The concert was great as always, even though it was a bit different comparing to the earlier ones I’ve been but I think a change can be good!

My outfit for the night was this:

Today I slept late. On the evening we drank sparkling wine and made pizza while watching The Independence Day’s reception. The whole day went by sooo fast!

I’m proud to be a Finnish and this day is something to be celebrated!

Deathstars @ Klubi, Tampere 27.09.2014

Tonight I went to Deathstars’ gig at Klubi, Tampere.

I had bought the ticket already on March, right after I heard they were coming to Tampere!

I was going to the gig with my friend, so we met in downtown and went to Klubi. The doors opened at 8 p.m. but we went there just in time to get ourselves drinks and to see the warm-up band “Woland” coming on stage at 9 p.m. – it was a nice kick off to tune up to the feeling. I was surprised they played only for about 25 minutes.

After that we had just the time to go out to the terrace for a cigarette break and chat a little. Just when we went on the bar again and got our second drinks, Deathstars got up on stage at 10 p.m. and we took our places amongst the crowd – it was time for a show!

The band played for an hour and 15 minutes, even though I could have been listening them for much longer! After the gig we got to the long line to get our jackets and left. I went to the taxi pole and we hugged goodbye with my friend and left to the different directions. I got myself a taxi and arrived home at midnight.

My outfit today (I was actually wearing pants for the first time in about five years!):

Sorry for the crappy photos, I use this camera usually filming videos. I try to post videos from the gig as soon as possible to my YouTube account!

P.S. Thank God for earplugs! As long as I can remember, this was the first time after a gig when my ears did not started ringing...

P.P.S. Tonight when I was walking next to the railway station, some guy yelled after me: "redheads won't get into the train!" - oh well...

Red is the New Black

So, I finally dyed my hair again. It had been quite a long time since I last did it – but never mind, I finally did it and I’m glad. I no longer have to deal with faded, orange hair anymore which comes between every dyeing... I had bought three new tins of red hair dye and had one older one still in my closet – I tend to buy too much than too little what comes to hair dye because there’s nothing so crappy situation than the hair dye runs out in the middle of the dyeing process and you end up with half dyed hair.

My mom had helped me to bleach my hair a few days earlier I dyed my hair. I haven’t gone to hair salons in years because it’s just way too expensive and I’m way too pedantic to bleach my hair myself, with the ammoniac bleach to let it stay on my hair as long as I’m finished with all of it if I do it all by myself – so it’s always nice to have someone else to help you. I use Semi-Permanent hair dye to dye my hair so it doesn’t do damage to my hair and thus I don’t need to worry about how much time the dyeing process consumes...

My schedule kind of prolonged till 22:30 p.m. although I was supposed to start dyeing my hair at 9 p.m. at the latest! I had reserved an hour and a half to dye my hair but it only took an hour. It always takes a right state of mind for me to start dyeing my hair, but after the whole process is over, I’m always like; “It wasn’t that hard! Damn it, why didn’t I do this earlier!?”

I love the actual dyeing process because I’m so concentrated to get every hair covered with the red dye that I don’t think about anything else and my mind is blank – that’s makes so good mentally! Needless to say when the whole dyeing process was over, the clock was after midnight. But I didn’t mind because the result is always beyond worth it, no matter what the time is!

I was at a fair about “making yourself feel at home” at an exhibition centre and this was my outfit today:

And here is pictures of my hair and makeup:

I feel so, so, so confident again now I have red hair again after a long time being stuck with the faded orange mess! I will upkeep this color as long as I can and walk with my head high being as confident as one can be!
